I've been making this for years and whenever I share a photo on instagram, at least 5 people ask me for the recipe. It's all about the crack sauce as the tofu is just pan-fried until it's browned on both sides. The crack sauce has all of the greatest hits of ingredients in Korean cuisine! Even if you normally pass on the tofu, this dish will change your mind!
Pan Fried Tofu with Crack Sauce
- Package of firm Tofu (a pound to 19 ounces depending on maker) cut into small rectangular pieces.
- Vegetable or canola oil
- 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of Soy Sauce (Tamari if GF)
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, either crushed and diced or mortal and pestled
- 2 tsp Korean chili flakes (gochugaru)
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp sugar
- Toasted Sesame seeds
Pan fry the firm tofu until it's lightly browned on both sides. Combine Soy sauce, green onions, garlic cloves, Korean chili flakes, sesame oil, and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Spoon crack sauce on pan fried tofu. Shake some toasted sesame seeds on tofu with crack sauce! Enjoy!
